Learning about art
Recent education policies concern themselves with a vocationalist drive to (eventually) enhance the UK’s ranking in the World economic order. The fact that as a country we are not likely to out-compete the rising economic stature of the BRICs nations should be taken into account. Instead of stuffing an ‘everything in the world’ curriculum down the necks of our children - in a greedy rush; the contemplative, life affirming values of art should be used to balance the overt emphasis on utility and logic currently prevalent in our schools.
