Alan Dedman likes to draw and paint from life. His studies of the nude are in the European academic tradition. Incorporating lively, gestural brushwork and rich, vibrant colours these powerful appraisals of human form by Alan Dedman are formal and sometimes allude to genre painting. Echoes of the life room at the Royal Academy Schools abound. The nude is a regular theme in British art schools. At St. Martin's students were tutored by Eric Luke, Connie Jude and Trevor Willoughby. At the Academy Schools Alan Dedman was taught by Ben Levene, RA and Norman Blamey, RA - amongst others. Distinctly un post-modern, these works are concerned with classical themes in Art. Here we have paintings and drawings of the female nude for sale as well as studies of the male nude. Modern Kunst, call it what you will - the brushwork and approach to colour are more modernist than anything else.If you would like to commission Alan to produce a work for you which includes elements of the human figure, the nude or a history painting please use the contact form on his contact page, where you can include photos and details of the work you are looking to commission.
