Alan Dedman began teaching at the College of North East London in 1990. Since then he has worked extensively in post-compulsory education.

Alan Dedman took a PGCE from Bath Spa University in 2006. He has provided tutorial guidance for the London Art College (Distance Learning Art College) since 1998.
